What This Product Is and How It Works

The Arrow Glass Drill Bit 6 mm is a precision‑shaped bit engineered for controlled drilling in brittle, non‑metallic surfaces. Unlike standard masonry or metal bits, it has a spear‑shaped or arrow‑style tip that engages the surface gently and progressively, reducing stress on the material and minimising the risk of cracking.

The bit rotates at low to moderate speed to allow the specialised tip to score and penetrate hard, glass‑like surfaces. Chip removal relies on controlled feed rate and lubrication rather than hammering action, which is unsuitable for brittle materials.

Material Quality, Durability and Environmental Performance

This drill bit is typically manufactured from hardened steel with a ground tip profile suited to brittle substrates. The tip geometry and material hardness are selected to withstand abrasion when drilling glass, glazed tiles, and porcelain. Using water or coolant during drilling reduces heat build‑up and prolongs bit life.

Under typical Kenyan interior finishing conditions—such as bathroom and kitchen tiling—the bit performs reliably when used at appropriate speeds with steady pressure and lubrication.

Installation, Handling and Compatibility

Install the glass drill bit into a standard electric or cordless drill with a chuck size compatible with the 6 mm shank. Mark the drilling point with non‑slip tape or marker to stabilise the bit tip. Drill at low speed with light, steady pressure; avoid percussion or hammer modes, which can shatter brittle surfaces.

Use water or a drip lubricant on glass and tile to discourage overheating and aid chip removal. Wear eye protection and gloves as safety precautions against sharp fragments and debris.

Typical Applications in Kenya

This 6 mm glass drill bit is frequently used for precision hole drilling in interior finishing and installation tasks. Typical uses include creating anchor or fixture holes in glazed tiles, bathroom walls, kitchen splashbacks, shower screens, mirrors, and glass shelving panels.

It is commonly selected by tilers, fundis, glaziers, and homeowners during renovation or fitting work. For comprehensive drilling accessory options, browse the full range in our Shop or visit the Power Tool Accessories Category.
